Artist's Description
I wanted to paint a lighthouse and at the same time display it so that its location was shown. This acrylic painting on transparent Duralar film allowed me to achieve that by placing a photocopied section of a NOAA Nautical Chart behind the painting. The location of the lighthouse is marked on the chart by a red and white striped miniature lighthouse just South of the city of Portland, Maine on Cape Elizabeth.
This is the second lighthouse I've painted in this manner.
This painting is 11x14 inches and the painting serves as the glazing for the chart. The painted area was finished with several coats of acrylic gloss varnish.
