Painting - Acrylic And Ink On Watercolor Paper Bonded Panel
Description
Sioux Maiden in a Shell Shirt is an original acrylic and ink painting, which was done on Arches watercolor board bonded to an MDF panel. Artist quality acrylic paints and ink were used and it was finished with three coats of acrylic gloss varnish.
This young woman was the daughter of the Sioux chief American Horse. The image was inspired by a photograph by Edward S. Curtis, a photographer who between 1900 and 1930 photographed all of the North American Indian Tribes. This monumental task was funded by J. P. Morgan. Curtis produced 20 volumes and 40,000 photographs. His cameras were large format view type that produced glass plate negatives.
